Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP) occurs in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy and is characterized by pruritus and elevated serum bile acid concentrations. Its incidence has been estimated to range from 0.3% to 15% in various populations, with most estimates from 0.3% to 0.5%.1 While ICP poses little risk for women, it does confer risk to the fetus.
